Nature

Nature id the most beautiful gift given to man by God. Through the ages nature has attracted man’s attention toward its various features.

It is unbelievable, if anybody says that he does not love nature. Just you have a look at your surroundings. You will find the branches of the green trees, waving in the slow wafts of the air. Then we dew –drops, that shine like silver beads on the green grass in the early moments of the day. We can not ignore the sun, the moon and the Stars. William Wordsworth was right in saying that” Nature never did betray the heart that loved her” Man is too small to estimate the full personality of nature. If it can be a hard mass of rock, it can also be a soft and sweet liquid of the rivers and seas. in real sense man is part and parcel of nature.

Mother Earth – Global warming

A living Organism cannot live by itself. Organism interact among themselves. All organism such as plants, animals and human beings , as well as the physical surroundings with whom you interact, form a part of the Environment are dependent upon each other. Thus, they maintain a balance in nature.

Human beings are the only organisms who try to modify the environment to fulfill their needs. Their acts have often been disturbed the links and balance of the environment . This Environmental imbalance give rise to various Environmental problems.
Some of the environmental problems are pollution. Soil erosion , extinction of species , deforestation, thinning of ozone layer and Global Warming.

Pollution

Environmental pollution is defined as the undesirable change in physical, Chemical and biological Characteristics of our air, land and water.

Types of Pollution

When we hear the word pollution the first thing that comes into our mind is Exhaust out of Automobile and Industries but it’s not all.

Pollution is classified in three types:

These are 1) Air Pollution 2) Water Pollution and
              3) Soil Pollution or Land Pollution

Air Pollution

Sources of air pollution are grouped under

1) Natural 2) Man Made

Natural Sources of air pollution are forest fires, ash from smoking volcanoes, dust storm and decay of organic matters.

Man Made sources are population explosion, deforestation, urbanization and industrialization. Many activities releases several pollutants such as Carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, lead, arsenic, asbestos, radioactive matter, and dust.

Oxygen Required for Combustion

For 1Ton oil 10.300m3
For 1Ton Coal 1, 15,000m3
For 1Ton Cooking Gas 15,600m3

Conservation and Protection of Environment

The term conservation of environment relates to activities which can provide individual or commercial benefits, but at the same time prevent excessive use of leading to environmental damage.

Conservation may be distinguished from preservation , which is considered to be “maintaining of nature as it is , or might have need before intervention of either human beings or natural forces.

It is necessary to conserve and protect our environment. Following practices help in protecting our environment.

1. Rotation of Crops
2. Judicious use of fertilizers, intensive cropping, proper drainage and irrigation.
3. Treatment of sewage, so that it does not pollute the rivers and other water bodies.
4. Composing organic solid waste for use as manure.
5. National parks and conservation forests should be established by the government.
6. Harvesting of Rain water.

Tentative value of a long life Tree

1. Generates oxygen worth

  Rs 8.6 Lahks

2. Greatest Air pollution control

Rs 10.5 Lakhs

3. Recycles fertility and soil erosion control

Rs 5.3 Lahs

4. Creates shelter for birds

Rs 4.3 lakhs

5. provides flowers, fruits and medicines and other goods worth

Rs 32 Lakhs
